Custom CRM Development Cost: A Membership Sales Tool for Macanta

What a custom CRM development cost buys, in this case: a membership sales and payment tool that plugs into Macanta's existing CRM platform, now essential to how one client runs its sales.

The situation

Macanta runs a CRM platform that its clients build their operations on. When one of those clients needed to sell memberships and take balance payments, letting a buyer pick a membership level and payment method in a few steps, the platform had no surface for it. Building a purpose-fit sales tool was the only way to close that gap, since the workflow didn't exist anywhere in the product.

The brief was narrow but specific: a sales tool that sits between Macanta's software and the payment page on the other end, carrying the choices a buyer makes before money changes hands.

What we built

Macanta supplied a Balsamiq mock-up of the flow it wanted. Before any code was written, Shipverra turned that mock-up into a written understanding of the scope, so both sides agreed on the deliverable up front instead of discovering gaps mid-build.

The tool was built inside Macanta's Instant Wholesale Service environment using AWS Lambda functions. A dedicated URL carries the sales flow buyers use to pick a membership level and payment method, and an admin section in the backend lets Macanta's client set up new products and payment pages without engineering help each time. This is what crm integration services usually look like in practice: wiring a purpose-built flow into an existing CRM at one specific point, rather than touching the platform around it.

Shipverra included 90 days of post-launch support after go-live, so early issues had a clear path to get fixed.

Outcome

The end client runs its membership and balance-payment sales through the tool today, and per Macanta's Clutch review, that side of the business would not operate without it. The build stayed on budget as long as requirements held steady, and the relationship continued into further projects afterward.

That combination on budget delivery and a tool the client depends on daily — is what a small, well-specified engagement, one that came in under $10,000, is supposed to produce: a narrow scope that fully closes the gap it was built for.

"We are impressed by their ability to stick to the budget, provided that we stick to the requirements."

Engagement FAQ

How long does a project like this take?

Macanta's engagement moved through three concrete phases: a client-supplied mock-up, a written scope agreed before any code was written, and a build on AWS Lambda that shipped with 90 days of post-launch support included. The client relationship has continued since it started in February 2021, but that ongoing relationship reflects follow-on projects, not the length of this specific build.

What does crm integration services work look like when the CRM already exists?

Rather than rebuilding Macanta's core platform, Shipverra built a standalone sales tool that plugs in at one specific point: the moment a buyer chooses a membership level and payment method. The rest of Macanta's product stayed untouched.

Can a small, narrowly scoped engagement like this still be worth it?

Macanta's case suggests yes. The tool was scoped narrowly around one workflow — membership and balance-payment sales — came in under $10,000, and the client's Clutch review says that part of the business wouldn't run today without it.

What technology do you use for CRM add-ons and payment-page integrations?

This one ran on AWS Lambda inside Macanta's Instant Wholesale Service environment, with a dedicated URL for the sales flow and an admin panel so the client manages products and payment pages directly. Serverless kept the add-on isolated from Macanta's core codebase.

How do you scope a project when the client only has a mock-up, not a spec?

For Macanta, Shipverra took the Balsamiq mock-up supplied and returned a written understanding of the scope before writing any code, so both sides agreed on the deliverable before budget and timeline were locked in.

How much does a custom CRM development cost like this run?

This one came in under $10,000, staffed with two Shipverra principals working directly with the client rather than a larger delivery team. The client's Clutch review specifically credits sticking to that budget as long as requirements held steady, cost discipline here came from a narrow, well-scoped build, not from cutting corners on a broader one.
